PDF File Preparation

 

There are several ways to create a PDF.

Using Microsoft Word or Publisher to Create Your Print Jobs:

  1. OPEN MICROSOFT WORD.
  2. WRITE THE DOCUMENT. ...
  3. CLICK "FILE." ...
  4. CLICK "SAVE AS." ...
  5. SELECT "PDF." ...
  6. SELECT "SAVE AS PDF." ...
  7. NAME THE DOCUMENT.

Adobe InDesign:

  1. OPEN Adobe indesign.
  2. WRITE THE DOCUMENT. ...
  3. CLICK "FILE." ...
  4. Select Adobe Pdf Presets
  5. SELECT the Quality
  6. NAME THE DOCUMENT.
  7. save the file.

This method works for many Mac OS X Office programs: Microsoft Office for Mac, iWork suite, Preview, etc.

  1. From the file menu, select print
  2. In the print dialog box, from the bottom left, click on pdf. a drop-down menu will appear
  3. From the drop-down menu, select "save as PDF".
  4. Save the file

Once your file is converted into a PDF file, use the "Choose File" button to upload your file on the FILE UPLOAD page.

Preparing Your Publication for Commercial Printing

 

Some terminology in reference to full-color printing:

  • 4/0 - Full color front / No print on back
  • 4/1 - full color front / One color on reverse
  • 4/4 - full color front / Full color back

WHEN DESIGNING PIECES FOR PRINT/PRESS, USE CMYK COLOR MODE. ANYTHING THAT IS WEB RELATED SHOULD BE COMPOSED IN THE RGB COLOR MODE.
